Good Idea: ASPP Launches Mentoring Program for Students
The American Society of Picture Professionals (ASPP) recently launched its
new, free mentoring program, “Expose Yourself to Careers in the Photo
and Visual Media Industry.” Events consist of a two-hour program in each
of ASPP’s chapter cities where a panel of photo professionals will explain
the responsibilities of different disciplines, including photo editor, researcher,
agent and photographer.
During each program, ASPP representatives will explain the benefits of membership
and identify a student to become a Student Membership Chair (a non-board position).
This student, one for each chapter, will be included in board meeting teleconferences
as a student voice and give his or her ideas and opinions. The program will
travel to Chicago in April, and ASPP’s other chapter cities, including
Boston, New York and Seattle throughout 2007 (specific dates have not yet been
announced). For more information, look at the individual chapter pages on the
ASPP Web site, http://www.aspp.com/chapters/index.lasso.
